Union Station’s Young Leaders Society (YLS) is a compassionate group of young professionals between the ages of 21-39 who are dedicated to promoting the mission of Union Station. An annual contribution of $25 will grant you active YLS membership and provide you with advanced access to upcoming events, free or discounted admission, and much more! Yearly memberships run from July 1 – June 30.

Meet the YLS Executive Officers!
Grace Kim is a Founder and Managing Member of a real estate investment and management company in Glendale. She holds a BA in Government from Cornell University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa.
Grace also holds a JD from Stanford Law School and studied abroad at Oxford University. She has practiced law for several years as a corporate transactional attorney and is a licensed real estate broker. Grace is a member of the Board of Directors of Union Station and a longtime volunteer.
She is passionate about serving the community and believes that God blesses us so that we may be a blessing to others. Her interests include fine art, jewelry design and music. She plays the piano and the viola.
Jennifer Chao is the IT Project Manager at Newegg Inc., where she accomplishes IT project objectives by planning, evaluating and monitoring project activities and spending.
She holds a BA in Studio Art and Accounting from University of California, Irvine and California State University, Los Angeles. Prior to joining Newegg Inc., she worked as a Financial Accountant at Golden Orient International Corp. and a manager at G. Paris Corp.
Jennifer is new to Union Station; however, she has always enjoyed volunteering. Her favorite past-times include traveling and outdoor activities, such as hiking, fishing and camping. She is also a frequent visitor to operas, museums, and exhibits.
Desarae Jones currently works as a State Governmental Affairs and Legislative Policy Analyst for LA Metro specializing in public transportation issues. Previously she worked as an analyst for the City of Beverly Hills.
As a Pasadena native, Desarae started volunteering for Union Station Homeless Services in 2001, and she has special interests in social media and photography. She also works with other organizations that focus on raising awareness on issues around education, homelessness, and HIV/AIDS in the community.
Desarae holds a BA in Political Science from Spelman College and Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Georgia State University. She is also a foodie and sports enthusiast.
Michelle Liu is a stay-at-home mom to two young boys. Prior to becoming a stay-at-home mom, Michelle was an Associate Vice President for the Installation Services Department at Transamerica.
She holds a BA in Sociology from UC Irvine. She was the committee chair for Transamerica’s United Way campaign, in which she organized events to encourage employees to contribute part of their paychecks to the organization. She continues to work with United Way by cooking meals for residents of their women’s shelter and gathering and packing supplies for an elementary school.
As a resident of Pasadena, Michelle often passed by Union Station’s Adult Center shelter on Raymond Avenue and felt compelled to give back to the community she lives in.
