John Brauer, Chief Executive Officer, has more than 25 years of nonprofit executive experience and holds a master’s degree in clinical psychology. He came to Union Station from NW Works, a Virginia-based nonprofit agency that provides employment, training and support services to adults with disabilities. John’s work with these individuals—including people experiencing homelessness—included day programs, work programs, therapeutic behavior services, social enterprise development, advocacy, government fundraising, and community outreach.
In addition to his passion for nonprofits, John has a truly entrepreneurial spirit. Prior to his work in the nonprofit sector, John owned and ran two for-profit businesses. He also served as adjunct professor at Florida State University where he taught graduate-level courses in budget, finance and personnel management for the Department of Social Work.
