The Pasadena Convention Center and Centerplate will prepare 250 turkeys for the annual Union Station Homeless Services Dinner in the Park event.

The turkeys will feed more than 1,000 people from noon to 3 p.m. pm Thanksgiving, Nov. 23, in Central Park, located on Del Mar Boulevard and Fair Oaks Avenue.

“The Pasadena Convention Center and Centerplate is thrilled to support Union Station Homeless Services by preparing turkeys for Dinner in the Park,” said Michael Ross, Pasadena Center Operating Co. CEO in a prepared statement. “We applaud Union Station’s work to serve thousands of meals to those less fortunate during the holiday season and are pleased to participate in such a giving cause.”

According to the Union Station website, the meals do more than just fill bellies, according to Union Station’s website.

“This uplifting community event provides thousands of holiday meals and hope for all who attend, including homeless men, women, children, seniors, very low-income families, and those with no place to go during the holidays.”

Union Station has been serving Thanksgiving dinner in the park for 46 years.

Union Station is the largest nonprofit organization serving the homeless in the San Gabriel Valley. The group started in 1973 after community volunteers started the nonprofit as a simple hospitality center to serve poor and homeless men in downtown Pasadena.

Centerplate has been the exclusive provider of food and beverages at the Pasadena Convention Center. .

Although the volunteer list is already full, Union Station still needs stuffing, dinner rolls, cranberry sauce, gravy and serving items, including potholders and aluminum pans.

The nonprofit cannot accept prepared food donations due to city Health Department regulations. Union Station can accept store-bought pies. Pies can be delivered to the Union Station Adult Center at 412 S. Raymond Ave., Pasadena, before the event or dropped off at Central Park on Thanksgiving morning.

Items must be delivered to the Adult Center by Friday, Nov. 18. Visit http://a.co/9otE0Nu to view the Amazon wish list. Items ordered on Amazon will be delivered directly to Union Station.
