Host a Fundraiser

As we emerge from the pandemic and return to offices, schools and social events, we can’t forget those who were most critically affected in the past year. Many of our neighbors lost their jobs and their homes, and our staff has been working tirelessly to ensure that we can provide our community with food, support services and a safe place to call home. Through it all, we’ve counted on the support of donors and volunteers. Every dollar and every minute counts! If you’d like to support our mission with a peer-to-peer fundraising event, scroll down for a few ideas and complete the online application.

Peer-to-Peer Fundraiser ideas

We have always counted on the support of donors and volunteers to make our life-saving programs and services possible. Every dollar and every minute counts! If you’d like to support our mission with a peer-to-peer fundraising event, here are just a few creative ideas to get you started:

Collect Food, Hygiene Items or Toys

Throughout the year, Union Station Homeless Services requests various items for our clients. We are always in need of food, new hygiene supplies and welcome kits. You can help by hosting a drive at your place work or worship, your school or among friends and family to gather canned or fresh foods for Thanksgiving or gifts during the holidays.

Dedicate Your Birthday with a Facebook Fundraiser

We commit to equity in our compensation philosophy and practices. We are committed to equal pay for equal work. We are also committed to great benefits that help you balance your work life with your best life. In many cases we offer an alternate 9/80 work week schedule that allows a mutually agreed upon a varied distribution of the normal work hours.

Host a Board Game or Trivia Night

A night of friendly competition and camaraderie can also support your community! It’s as simple as setting out some of your favorite board games, snacks and drinks, inviting your friends or family, and requesting a small donation to Union Station as “admission.”

bring your lunch to work day

Challenge your coworkers to bring their lunch to work and donate the money they have saved to Union Station. You can also challenge them to forfeit their morning latte.

Get Sponsored to Walk, Run or Bike

There are a number of marathons or half marathons hosting in the Los Angeles area all year long. If you’re running a marathon or riding in a bike race, ask your friends and family to sponsor you or make a tribute gift to Union Station in your honor.

Set Up a Good Ole Fashioned Lemonade Stand or Bake Sale

A glass of ice cold and refreshing lemonade never goes out of style, especially with the perpetual sunshine of Southern California. Setting up a lemonade stand or hosting a bake sale is a great opportunity to get the kids involved and instill the values of philanthropy at a young age. Here’s a great example of one 6-year-old who came through for us!

Organize a Car Wash

It’s a classic for a reason! Organize a car wash, recruit your friends and family to help out, and donate the proceeds to Union Station.
